Wedding Planner Vs. Wedding Coordinator, which one do you need on your special day?

Lately I have been receiving A LOT of questions about the difference between a Wedding Planner, Wedding Coordinator and a Day Of Coordinator. So I decided to outline of of those duties below. It is very important to know what you are paying for and getting.

A wedding Planner will work with the client from the start. Helping with the selection of everything from vendor selection, hotel rooms, florist, cake, photographer hair & make up, transportation, anything needed to pull the wedding. They are with you from start to finish of the wedding planning process.

A coordinator will come in at the end and make sure everything goes off with out a hitch. Checks on deliveries, make sure the reception has the look and feel desired by the client. Pretty much to make sure the day runs smoothly and will handle any hiccups along the way to ensure an easy flow on the wedding day.

A ceremony coordinator will work during the ceremony to ensure everyone gets where they belong at the right time and the ceremony flows as it should. They can help the photographer with pictures and get guests to the reception. They may or may not have anything to do with decor.

It's important to understand who you have hired to navigate your wedding experience. Don't be afraid to ask questions and always make sure you have a complete job description outline! Planning a wedding can be a tricky thing, make sure you know how much help you need!

Sami & Ryan | Wedding Ceremony at Sunset Park | Ocean City,MD

A true wedding ceremony out of a story book. Sami and Ryan first met while she was working at a brewery, and the rest is history. Both having a true love for the beach they knew getting married on the water was only the right thing to do! After all, Ryan did propose to Sami while on vacation in Virginia Beach.

The ceremony was completely magical. With views of the Ocean City Inlet & the smell of salt air, love was all around! The groomsmen all dressed in white & the bridal party in navy. Complete with the sword arch to finish the ceremony. It's safe to say Sami & Ryan's wedding was straight out of a story book.

2017 Wedding Planning

By now we have all celebrated our holiday & the new year so now we can focus on the big stuff. If you are planning a wedding this year what are the trends? What is the look and feel? Pantone has given us the color of the year and it is greenery. Greenery is a pretty yellowish green-think of the first greens you see when everything is blooming and coming back to life in the springtime. It plays well with all other colors -think of Mother nature and how well green works with everything!

The next detail following color is look and feel. Today's bride wants natural elements for her big day. Branches, wood slices, pine cones, starfish, seashells, leaves all will create beautiful accents to your ceremony & reception. Ceremonies & receptions that are more organic can still be quite elegant. You can add the sparkle with runners, lighting, accents and venue selection. Color can be added here and there with flowers, runners, napkins, cake and of course bridal party attire. Don't forget uplighting it can change the feel of a room instantly.

Another popular trend is flower walls and large flower accents. A flower wall can be real (pricey) or foam flowers that look real or even paper flowers. They can be used as a complete wall, a runner across the top of pipe and drape or an arbor, across the front of a head table or dripping down the table cloth. There are many places to source these items ask your planner they usually have reliable contacts for specialty items.
